Thank you Syed for the quick reply only I Wish to modify my own local user proper noun since I am now in a home group and the account proper name is now the same as that of the other pc.

Following Syed's instructions, upto number four. Do you have change Your account name ( high lighted in Picture)
If you lot do click that, and you have the choice to change. It usually takes effect after a reboot.

If its the just admin account on the computer, earlier changing the name, to exist safety in instance something goes wrong, you might want to first open a command prompt admin and run the command;
net user administrator /active:yes

Hi Wayne,
the option "alter your business relationship proper name" is present only in ane of the two pc's, allow'due south say the secondary one.
anyhow I changed the name very hands and there is no problem. The only question is: why this pick is non nowadays in the other pc?

I don't run into the Alter Your Business relationship Name choice in Windows 10 Pro. The account username assigned to me is my start initial and first 4 letters of my surname. This follows a clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Previously, it gave my whole name. It's not a huge deal, merely it's still abrasive. Any other means if this option isn't showing please?

I have the aforementioned problem. The pick "modify your business relationship name" does not appear. I have iv user accounts setup on my desktop. On two of them the option to modify the name appears. On the other 2 it does non nor practise they have the options to change the countersign. Very annoying.

With a local account i tin change the proper name only not with a Microsoft account. Is very abrasive

The real problem in this underlying question is that the option for "Change the User Name" does not always bear witness upward and, from what I have noticed, information technology depends on the operating system under which the local account was initially created. I converted two desktops to Windows10. Ane from from Windows 7 and the other from Windows 8.ane, The local accounts converted from Os vii all bear witness the "Alter the User Name" option. The ones converted from Os 8.1 do not. Further, if i creates an account totally inside Windows 10 it likewise does not show the option to change the names. So, information technology appears to me that Microsoft fabricated a witting decision to eliminate that option starting with the Os 8.i
